The Lt. Adam Gustafson Memorial Fund has been giving away $305 meat packages, along with smokers, grills, and cooktops to local first responders for five months now. Adam loved to cook and his badge number was 305. It’s been fun making deliveries to area departments in Adam’s honor, but even more so when there’s a connection.
Delivering to the Fargo Fire Department in September gave us
the opportunity to give back to a local firefighter who served in the Minnesota
Army National Guard with Adam and I. Trevor went on the same 18-month
deployment to Iraq with us from 2004-2005.
After coming home, Adam went on to serve as a police officer
at West Fargo Police Department and Trevor went on to serve as a firefighter
for Fargo Fire Department. Their time in Iraq influenced both of their career
decisions and our community has benefitted from their years of dedicated service
and sacrifice.
Adam’s mom happened to be visiting from Arizona so she got
to be a part of this special delivery, along with my dad. We toured the Fargo
Fire Department thanks to Trevor and enjoyed the chance to keep Adam’s memory
alive by giving back out of our grief.
Twenty years after Iraq, we’re remembering Adam and those who choose to serve their communities day in and day out. Thanks, Trevor and Fargo Fire, for all that you do.
