A basement remodel brings some needed change. Some fun and excitement.

When we moved to this house, we always planned on adding a bar.

It’s a rambler with a large basement. One big main room that needed to be broken up and a kitchen/bar area was just the thing.

We never got it done.

I decided now’s the time.

If I wait another year or two it will never happen. I’ll be saying the kids only a have a few years left at home and then this house will be too big for me. It already is.

Adam filled it. But it often feels too big and empty now.

I decided to get that kitchen in downstairs and add a fireplace. Our winters are brutal and somehow, I’ve never owned a house with one. It was time to remedy that.

The kids and I enjoyed picking things out and packing everything up. It was a great excuse to go through our storage room and purge items I no longer need, or want, or know I will never use without Adam.

The basement was emptied and readied.

We need things to look forward to and couldn't wait to watch the transformation.

We were hoping for a better use of the space down there. A place to cuddle in and cozy up for movies and snuggles. A kitchen and whiskey display area that would make Adam proud.

His whiskey collection should finally get some of the attention it deserved and when people come over for a sip, we wanted a nice space to sit down and share memories in.

We can't wait to show you what The Home Authority can do.
