The Whiskey Widow, December 2 2022

A birthday wish: To bless others in Adam's memory.

Today should be Adam’s 42nd birthday. But, he never got to turn 41.

It seems like the right day to announce something I’ve been working on over the last year.

Our family has been blessed by the kindness of many since Adam died. The support from law enforcement, family and friends, military veterans, and the generous community we live in has been overwhelming.

It is truly humbling to be on the receiving end of so much kindness and generosity in the midst of tragedy.

It felt right to find a way to give back and do good things in Adam’s name.

We created the Lt. Adam Gustafson Memorial Fund to keep Adam’s memory alive by making an impact in our community.

This nonprofit exists to encourage aspiring law enforcement officers; provide needed equipment, resources, and support to local law enforcement agencies; to show appreciation to the men and women who serve our communities as first responders and those who work in the criminal justice system.

Adam served as a Lieutenant at the West Fargo Police Department until his death at work in May 2021, from a heart attack and undiagnosed heart disease. His badge number was #305.

Mission 305 is our lofty goal to give back, donate, support, and show kindness, at least 305 times, in the communities Adam grew up in, worked in, and lived in – the places and spaces that touched his life.

Mission 305 will keep us busy, but what a great way to inspire us to continue to look forward, and to find ways to show kindness in our community. We’ve already got some of our first missions lined up and will share each one as we climb toward the goal of 305. If you want to follow along, please check out our newly established Facebook page:

The LAGMF will be participating in Giving Hearts Day on February 9, 2023, but donations can be accepted at any time through the link below to help support our mission. If you’re interested in donating in honor of Adam’s birthday, please know your gift will go on to impact many.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting us on this journey.
