What dreams are you pursuing in 2024?
I’m making a list.
I’ve always been a resolution girl.
Love to chart out a course for the coming year full of
adventure and accomplishment.
I have the added pressure of knowing time is short.
I know it deep in my bones.
When your strong, healthy husband dies suddenly at age 40, you come to live with the knowledge of time. How fast it goes. How short it really is.
It was 15 years of marriage. It was 3 beautiful kids.
It’s now been 957 days I’ve lived without Adam. Almost 1,000
days.
I don’t know if I’ll get 1,000 more or 100 more.
But I know this.
My son will graduate in 5 years.
I have only 5 summers left with him and my middle daughter
is right behind.
It doesn’t feel like much. Like there’s not enough time to
show them everything they need to see and teach them what their dad would want
them to know before they head off into the world.
I like to take my resolutions and break them down into
smaller pieces.
A five-year plan for summers I have left. What national
parks will we hit? Countries shall we visit?
But for 2024, I take it one month at a time.
I found this monthly resolution calendar and it gives me
focus. For just one month.
Usually, I select a project I’ve failed at finishing the
year before or a never-ending one like organizing and purging and set weekly
goals to help make it happen.
Bite-size goals and long-term dreams.
That’s where I thrive.
What are you dreaming of for the days you have left?
Write it down. Make a plan. Take some steps.
You don’t know how much time God will bless you with.
Use it wisely.
