If you’ve been following along by now you know I’m a
believer, relying on faith in the darkest moments. I don’t know how people
walk through tragedy without a relationship with Jesus.
Clearly, it doesn’t make you immune from the pain and
struggles of life, but when you fix your eyes on the One who knows what lies
ahead and sees you in the lonely, confusing days, a quiet faith in a plan you
cannot see, in purpose you did not create, begins to cover over the darkness.
I’ve said it before, God gives us enough light for today.
There is comfort knowing I don’t have to get ahead of Him. I just have to get
through today. Dark days come for us all, but faith will sustain you.
Here's something to think about as 2022 closes. Are you part
of a local church? Do you have somewhere to go that encourages your heart, causes
you to reflect on your life, your actions, your spirit? A place where when you
sit down you feel like you are supposed to be there, and every so often, like
the words being spoken are meant directly for you?
I understand many people do not have a church home. Do not
attend regularly. Have been hurt or felt rejected by a church, or its members.
The church is made up of people and people fail. But, as a new year approaches, would you consider finding a local church again?
Where else do you have a weekly opportunity to rest on the firm foundation of scripture, to lift your voice in praise, to reflect on who you are and where you’re going, to be challenged and changed in ways you could not on your own?
If you bravely check out a church this Sunday and feel it’s
not right for you, keep going. There are so many beautiful houses of worship
all waiting to greet you. Each with their own style and structure.
Whether this season is heavy for you, or full of light,
remember you are loved and keep walking.
Merry Christmas to you and yours.
